About 97% of the total amount of water on earth is found in the oceans. Isaac Newton was the first person to scientifically explain the tidal movements. Spring tides are especially strong. They occur when the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon are aligned.

This image has been divided into horizontal rows by the sand, foam and sea. The composition should be calming but the picture being portrayed is far from that. It is an invigorating dynamic photograph, full of energy and vitality.

The sand in the foreground was intentionally placed out of focus, because I felt the wave deserved pride of place. A fairly fast shutter speed was chosen as I wanted to catch the wave as it formed without the presence of any motion blur.

It is definitely a ‘Wish you were here’ postcard style image.
