Condensation is the term for small droplets of water that appear on thin objects when the difference in temperature between two surfaces alters rapidly. The cool surfaces cool the nearby air and minute water droplets are formed.

I took this photograph as my daughter got out of the shower. The mirror was completely steamed up and as she wiped it, a wonderful distorted reflection was created. This photograph has a symbolic meaning to me which describes the often awkward transition from girl to woman. ‘As she gazes into the mirror, she sees a vague reflection of the youth that she is leaving behind, but only a foretaste of the woman she is to become’.

I stood to the right of her so that the bright light coming in from the window would emphasize the condensation forming on the mirror as well as her distorted reflection.
